The word revival simply means to the Christian to draw closer to their faith, to
their God. Christianity is open to all people, so sometimes to have a revival
means to pray that people will open their hearts to Christ during the time of
song and message. There is a lot of prayer before the revival to prepare hearts
and be ready for the week long meetings.
Many years ago, like 20 or 30 years, they sometimes had 2 or 3 weeks of
revival.
In the Christian faith we believe in a devil or Satan that is evil and is
working against God. Anything he can do to make us turn our backs to God or
forget God is in our life he will try to do. He is sometimes referred to as the
Evil One. Sometimes people blame God for bad things that happen, but a lot of
times we bring on the bad ourselves because God had given us choices or
sometimes the Evil One is responsible. God sees the bigger picture, and when
bad things happen, I know He will comfort me and help me through those times. I
never blame God because the world is full of pain and destruction and I am not
exempt from those things.
Anyway I brought up Satan because before the revival there is a lot of
prayer going on to ask God to keep the Evil One out of the revival and
not to allow him to distract the ones coming to hear the message.
Is this confusing? I hope not. If you look around the world
there is a lot of evil out there.
